50 Buckingham Street is an independent gallery space situated in Surry Hills, the inner-city suburb of Sydney. The space presents a flexible, contemporary exhibition program by professional independent artists, curators, impresarios and cultural groups.

Like all the streets in Sydney, parking is not easy, we recommend you try parking in Chalmers Street alongside the Prince Alfred Park Pool.
How do I hire the space?
50 Buckingham St is an independent contemporary art space available for hire during the calendar year from one to three weeks. The space is available by application. The applications will be assessed by the coordinator of the space, Damien Minton, who has worked in the visual arts industry for over 30 years.
There are two basic options available for hiring the space:

Independent professional artists presenting self-directed exhibitions, you do not require management or administrative assistance.
We also invite curated group exhibitions, other cultural disciplines, local and interstate impresarios and cultural event organisers.
Gallery openings are presented on Tuesday nights from 6 to 8pm and the gallery maintains retail hours of 11am to 6pm Wednesday to Saturday. You are required to ensure the space is open to the public during the advertised hours.
You will receive full access to the space. Inclusive of the weekly rental fee of $880.00 (includes gst). You will be covered by the gallery's public liability policy.
The rental fee includes:
utilities and NBN coverage.
Access to a kitchen and hospitality equipment.
Marketing through an emailed curated mailing list consisting of clients and industry contacts.
Promotion through Instagram and Facebook.
Access to the gallery's EFTPOS to process sales (each transaction will incur a 3% merchant fee).

We assist with the staging and managing of your exhibition for the duration of the show.
We will stage the opening and manage all aspects of the gallery during retail hours.
Inclusive of the weekly rental fee of $660.00 (includes gst) plus 20% of all sales, you will be covered by the gallery’s public liability policy.

What are the dimensions of the gallery?
50 Buckingham St is a street level ground floor retail shop bound by Buckingham and Bedford Street. The total gallery space is 70sqm. It consists of two rooms (one step) with full windows on both street frontages. It contains a variety of exhibiting wall space, totaling over 20 linear metres. The exhibition walls are 3 metres high. The walls are made of gyprock and plywood allowing the flexibility of installing artwork straight into the wall. The walls are patched and painted after each exhibition.
